Chapel

What we do right now, we do for CHRIST! Chapel image

This phrase is the last thing the SAU chapel band sees before engaging hundreds of University students in worship. Each chapel band member jumps up, taps the sign, and then heads on stage to lead one of the most amazing experiences at SAU – chapel.

At SAU, chapel is required for every residential student. Athough you might think this requirement becomes burdensome, actually, it is one of the most anticipated events of the week for students. Seeing nearly 800 students, faculty and staff lifting up their hands, voices and hearts to the Lord in all-out worship is one of the many things that make SAU chapel so unique. Combine that with hand-picked speakers from all over the country that engage the students with dynamic and spiritually-challenging messages, and you'll begin to understand why chapel is one of the best experiences that students have at SAU.

What you do for those two hours in chapel, you do for Christ. Whether it be praising Him, encouraging your friends as they sing special music or listening to a fellow believer give you the tools you need to better serve Him, you will not go away from chapel unchanged.

Here's a sampling of past speakers:

  • Mattie Montgomery - evangelist, musician, author
  • Shane Claiborne - author and activist
  • Stephen Baldwin - actor
  • Jason Upton - musician
  • Tony Campolo - author and speaker
  • Craig Gross - online church founder and speaker
  • Dallas Willard - speaker and author
  • Richard Foster - theologian and author
  • Cal Thomas - author and political columnist
