Employment benefits
Eligible employees at the University are provided a wide range of benefits. A number of the programs (such as Social Security, workers' compensation, state disability, and unemployment insurance) cover all employees in the manner prescribed by law. Benefits eligibility is dependent upon a variety of factors, including employee classification and work load. The Office of Human Resources can identify the programs for which you are eligible. Some benefit programs require contributions from employees and some are fully paid by the University.
Staff or administrative employees who work 30 hours per week or more are considered to be full-time and are eligible for full-time benefits. Employees who work 20 hours per week and above are eligible for TIAA/CREF benefits (after meeting participation requirements), tuition discount, flexible savings plan, and under certain circumstances may be eligible for health insurance coverage for a single person, but would have to pay the extra full costs of dependent coverage.
Full-time contracted faculty who work three-quarter time or above are eligible for full-time benefits with SAU. Faculty with a regular contract at half-time and above are eligible for TIAA/CREF benefits (after meeting participation requirements), tuition discount, flexible savings plan and under certain circumstances, eligible for health insurance coverage for a single person, but would have to pay the extra full costs of dependent coverage. Adjunct faculty are not eligible for any benefits.
