Transfer students

Transfer studentsIf you’re thinking about transferring to Spring Arbor University's main campus and have an assortment of credits from another institution(s) that you want to transfer – don’t worry! Chances are you can come to SAU with much more than your good name.

MACRAO Agreement and Course Credit Transfers

At Spring Arbor, we recognize the MACRAO Agreement among Michigan two-year and four-year colleges. That means you might have already completed many of our liberal arts requirements if the college you previously attended grants the MACRAO agreement and you fulfill the criteria. Click on the links below to learn more.

If you send official transcripts to Spring Arbor University, we will evaluate your courses to determine how much credit you may transfer toward your SAU degree. Each evaluation is conducted individually to help ensure you receive the maximum credit for the coursework you have completed. Credit may be awarded for classes numbered at the 100 level and higher with a GPA of 2.0 or above.

Transfer student admissions requirements

Now that you know your credits are good, let’s see how you stack up in other areas.

  • As a transfer student, you must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher for regular admission.
  • You must send us your ACT or SAT scores if you are transferring with less than 26 semester hours.
  • Have all the colleges and universities you have attended send your official transcripts to SAU's Office of Admissions.
  • Sign and submit a Release of Information form from the last college you attended if you lived on campus and attended within the last four years.

Send your information to:

Spring Arbor University
Office of Admissions
106 E. Main St.
Spring Arbor, MI 49283-9799

Next, complete and submit the SAU Application for Admission. Here are your choices:

  • You can fill out a paper version [PDF] of the application by printing off a copy and snail mailing it or you can fill it out online. If you complete your application online, we’ll waive the $30 application fee. How’s that for a bonus?
  • If you are coming back to SAU as a returning student, you'll need to submit an application for readmission.
  • If you are a student who has applied in the past five years but didn't enroll, please fill out the application to re-apply.
