High School Dual Enrollment

While you are looking for the college you’ll attend after high school, take some time learn about how you can jumpstart your college education while still in high school.

High school dual enrollmentThe High School Dual Enrollment program offers a wide range of on-campus and online courses and even if you aren’t planning on attending SAU, the credits you earn with the High School Dual Enrollment program will likely transfer to the school of your choice. SAU's regional accreditation by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools facilitates transfer of credits to colleges and universities nationwide.

Also, it costs only $90 per credit hour for up to 6 credits – that’s the equivalent of two classes in a semester! High School Dual Enrollment is a great way to get a taste of a college-level course before enrolling in college. Because the courses are rigorous and challenging, some high school students might not be ready to take on this level of education. For those that are well-equipped and college-bound, they will prove to be quite advantageous.

Admissions Requirements

To enroll in the High School Dual Enrollment program, the student must:

  • Be a high school junior or senior
  • Have a GPA of at least 3.2 or an ACT score of 21
  • Designate a school official or parent as a mentor
  • Must meet with a Spring Arbor University admissions representative
  • An early-enrolled student may only take a course if space is available after Spring Arbor University students have registered.
  • The applicant must submit:
    • The enrollment form to be accepted into the program and to enroll for classes (acceptance into the high school dual enrollment program does not guarantee acceptance to SAU post-graduation.)
    • The $30 application fee
    • A high school transcript (we will accept a faxed copy in order to get you started as we wait for your official copy.) If it is a student's first dual enrollment course, they must submit the enrollment application along with their official high school transcript. If they have taken a dual enrollment course before (and received at least a C or better) they just fill out the enrollment application.
    • ACT score

Once you are enrolled:

  • Student must earn a grade of "C" or better in order to remain in the dual enrollment program
  • Students may take a maximum of 16 credits under the dual enrollment program (anything above six credits will be charged at the regular enrolled student rate of $485 per credit hour)
  • If enrolled on-campus, the student must also pay other required fees for Spring Arbor University
  • Tuition must be paid prior to the start of the course
