Welcome to the School of Arts and Sciences
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the School of Arts and Sciences! As the largest School in the University, the School of Arts and Sciences provides most of the general education curriculum required of all undergraduate students.
In the School of Arts and Sciences, our goal is to equip students for competent and fulfilling service to God in a variety of Kingdom building capacities. As Christians, we want to “love God with all our minds, hearts, and souls." The School of Arts and Sciences provides opportunities for growth in knowledge and understanding of God and His creation. Loving God with our minds requires the development of knowledge and skills. Foundational knowledge and practical experience are found in the various disciplines of the liberal arts and sciences. Loving God with our hearts involves our creative nature. This nature is enhanced as we contemplate the great ideas of times past and find fulfillment in the beauty we produce for God’s glory today. Loving God with our souls requires a passion to live a life of love, reflecting Christ’s love for us, doing justice and working to alleviate suffering, “loving our neighbor as ourselves.”
The goals of the School of Arts and Sciences at SAU really are goals for the Christian life. As God’s workmanship, we are to be good stewards of all He has placed in our trust. Developing our minds, caring for our bodies, and enriching our spirits and souls are life-long undertakings and are honoring to God and examples to the world.
