Veteran’s Day Celebration planned for Nov. 10
Nov. 5, 2009

Spring Arbor University students are organizing a Veteran’s Day Celebration to honor troops and veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The celebration will take place on University Plaza on the campus of Spring Arbor University from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. The community is welcome to attend.

Professor John Williams and student Brian Knapp, student government association president, will speak and a flag presentation will take place during the celebration. Veterans and families of those currently serving will be invited to step forward for recognition during the ceremony.

“We want our troops to know Spring Arbor is thankful for their dedication and we’re praying for them,” says Knapp.

Also in celebration of Veteran’s Day, Spring Arbor students will have an opportunity to help prepare care packages to send to troops currently serving overseas. Beginning on Monday, students can write thank-you notes that will be included in the packages. Cards will be available in the dining commons during lunch. “We have 400 cards and we are hoping each one gets filled out to send,” says Knapp.

Also included in the care packages will be a video of the Veteran’s Day Celebration and recorded messages from students wishing to express their gratitude.
