Spring Arbor University hosts 4th annual networking event
Nov. 5, 2009
Let’s Network returns to Spring Arbor University on Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the Poling Center Lobby with a free come and go reception from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The event takes on the form of a job fair in reverse. Hand-picked SAU upperclassmen will be showcased with a resume and portfolio. Organizations are welcome to attend the event to seek out potential interns, employees or opportunities to have students complete specific projects. This unique event allows for networking and growth for both students and organizations.
Eaton Corporation, Conveyance Systems Division, of Jackson, Mich., a company in power management and a leader in global technology, experienced the benefits of the SAU Let’s Network event firsthand.
Penny Hicks, human resources analyst at Eaton Corporation, met and hired Spring Arbor alumnus Nate Mainka as a result of the Let’s Network event. “The SAU Let’s Network event was able to connect us with a student who fit our internship position extremely well. Nate was an intelligent student with strong interpersonal communication skills,” says Hicks. She felt Mainka met and exceeded goals set forth. Hicks believes Let’s Network will provide companies with opportunities for success as they connect and network with SAU students.
Students involved in the Let’s Network come from a variety of majors including marketing, advertising, public relations, business management, graphic design, Web site design, writing, finance, computer programming, management information systems and others.
“I think what Spring Arbor and its students have to offer the community is a well kept secret,” says Bev Nemecek, director of the marketing department at SAU and sponsoring professor of the event.
