Meet the faculty and staff of the Department of Communication and Media. 

FacultyCommunication and Media Faculty

Paul Patton, Ph.D. chairs the communication and media department. He is an accomplished playwright, actor and director. His research interests include the cult of the celebrity. E-mail Dr. Patton.

Course developers/adjuncts

Karl Baehr, Ph.D. teaches computer-mediated communication at Regent University, and is President of Knowledge Based Evolution, a media and Internet communication consulting firm. Additional information is available at KarlBaehr.com.

Tom Ball, Ed.D., D. Min. founded the department of communication at Spring Arbor University. His background is in educational broadcasting, and his current interest is in spiritual direction. E-mail Dr. Ball.

Heidi Campbell, Ph.D. graduated from Spring Arbor University and did her graduate work in media and theology at the University of Edinburgh. Her dissertation examined religious uses of the internet.

Samuel Ebersole, Ph.D. is a professor of mass media and director of the Center for New Media at the University of Southern Colorado.

Mark Fackler, Ph.D. is a professor of communication at Calvin College and is coauthor of Media Ethics: Cases and Moral Reasoning, a widely used textbook.

Quentin Schultze, Ph.D. is a professor of communication at Calvin College, and author of a number of books, including the recent and highly acclaimed Habits of the High Tech Heart: Living Virtuously in an Age of Information.
