Assistant Professor of Philosophy

Originally from western New York, Matthew moved to Michigan with his wife, Helene, and their children in the summer of 2011.  He has been an ordained elder in the Free Methodist Church since 2009 and served as a pastor in the Genesis Conference for 4 years while teaching part time at Roberts Wesleyan College.  His dissertation focus is on how altruism and generosity impact the human condition and how Wesley’s “bands” historically fostered generosity and do so today.  Matthew and Helene love the outdoors and spending time with their family and local community.
