SAU hosts Geek is the New Chic event for high school juniors and seniors

Geek-is-the-New-Chic-Event-300x214Spring Arbor University invites high school juniors and seniors to its Geek is the New Chic event on Friday, April 4, from 4-9 p.m. Hosted by SAU’s Department of Natural Sciences, the event will feature interactive labs, science experiments and allow high school students to spend time with SAU students and professors to learn more about current research on campus. The event is free and open to the public.

With STEM careers in science, technology, engineering and math among US News Top 10 careers for 2014, there is no better time to explore the possibilities of a career in the field. Other event highlights will include the chance for participants to:

  • Learn about current student research happening on campus
  • Engage in interactive lab opportunities with professors
  • Enjoy dinner with current STEM students
  • Compete in a campus scavenger hunt using GPS coordinates
  • Witness science experiments come to life in professor demonstrations
  • Learn how to make ice cream using liquid nitrogen
  • Stay overnight with a current STEM student (optional)
