Student artwork on display following 2014 Spring Art Competition

Spring Arbor University held its 2014 Spring Art Competition May 8-9 in the Ganton Art Gallery on SAU’s main campus. The artwork remains on display through the summer by appointment only, but full gallery hours remain through May 16.

Alex Parsons, graphic designer and marketing coordinator at Michigan State University, served as juror. In addition to selecting the pieces, Parsons opened the show with a brief presentation. From 177 entries, 73 were selected for the exhibition. Parsons commended the art students for their effort and their exceptional craftsmanship. He said that he most often chose an award winner because the piece drew him in further to explore the artist’s idea. Award winners are listed below.

The 2014 Spring Art exhibition will be on display through the summer by appointment. During the school year, the Ganton Art Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The gallery is closed for the holidays.
