COVID-19 Mar. 9 Update

Dear SAU students, faculty and staff,
SAU’s leadership is meeting regularly to review the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Department of State and public health organizations. SAU is proactively implementing measures to safeguard the campus community.

For SAU students, faculty or staff who have traveled internationally and visited countries that the CDC has listed as Level 3 (South Korea, Italy, Iran, and China), we ask that you e-mail A provider from Holton Health and Wellness Services (HHWS) will review the message and get back to you. Please isolate yourself in your room or at home until you have received a response from HHWS.

In addition, the CDC has been screening travelers at the airport when they arrive from countries listed as Level 3 risks. If the CDC asks you to voluntarily quarantine for 14 days, please let us know by emailing We will help coordinate things with your instructors and develop a plan for continuity of instruction. If you live nearby, it would be ideal if you spent that time at home. If you live on campus and do not feel like you can isolate yourself, please let us know by emailing

In light of the outbreaks in the Seattle area, New York City, Toronto, and California, those who have traveled to, from, or through those areas should pay careful attention to any symptoms that might develop and be prepared to isolate. Please communicate with and/or your primary care physician with any medical concerns.

Please refer to the SAU coronavirus webpage for the latest information pertaining to this evolving situation.

If you have any medical questions or concerns, please email before visiting in-person. If you have any general questions about SAU’s plans and responses to the Coronavirus outbreak, please email

Thank you,

Coronavirus Planning Team
