COVID-19 September 4 Update

SAU Athletics is a very important aspect of our community life. All of us look forward to cheering on our SAU Cougar athletes each year and we are so glad that our athletes can compete this fall. However, to be in line with the State of Michigan’s Executive Order, the SAU Athletics Department is announcing the official spectator policy for this fall. Please review the following guidelines and thank you for understanding.

In compliance with the state’s guidelines for college athletics, SAU is permitted to have a maximum of 100 attendees at competitions. To not exceed this number, this will include all athletes, coaches, officials, other game personnel, and select spectators.

Unfortunately, due to these restrictions, all Cougar home contest spectators will be limited to a select number of SAU parents only. SAU students, community members, and visiting fans from the opposing institution will not be allowed to attend. SAU Cougar fans are encouraged to cheer on all SAU Cougar soccer and volleyball matches online free of charge at

In addition to this, in order to not exceed the maximum number of people at our soccer and tennis matches, spectators may not sit or stand outside the facility along stadium/venue fences.

Families of Spring Arbor student-athletes are required to reserve a spot on the team pass list, which will be maintained by each respective team. Please be prepared to present a photo ID for admittance.

Spectators and designated game personnel are required to wear a mask at all times inside the McDonald Athletic Center. Individuals within six feet of another person not from their household are also required to wear a mask while at the Cougar Soccer Complex and the Jones Tennis Complex.

Public restrooms will be open at all facilities. However, concessions will not be available.

Please contact with any questions you have.
