About Individualized Majors
A student may plan and pursue an academic major different from any current major in the catalog with the approval of their academic adviser and the registrar. Such programs could include a combination of on-campus and off-campus courses, independent studies and work at other institutions. All individualized majors must clearly reflect specifically-stated vocational objectives and should be developed with the help of a faculty member in that field of study.
A proposal submitted for approval of an individualized major must include specific courses and a rationale for the combination of those courses. It is expected that such majors will be group majors and will include at least 36 hours. A minimum of 16 semester hours in the major must be completed after approval of the individualized major. All University graduation requirements apply.
