Evening at the Arbor demonstrates the importance of science

On May 4, over 400 members of the greater Jackson County community gathered in SAU’s Fieldhouse to celebrate the impact of the sciences. Over 90 students were involved through displaying their research, participating in live experiments and demonstrations, serving appetizers and interacting with guests. Speakers for the evening included sophomore Rachel Bawks; Dr. Tom Kuntzleman, Professor of Chemistry; and Dr. Jacob Atem ’08. Watch their presentations, and more, below.

During the event, CEO and chairman of Alro Steel Corporation Al Glick, was presented with the Faith F. Small Community Faithfulness Award, which recognizes individuals for their leadership in promoting private action for public good. A local entrepreneur and philanthropist, Glick received this award for modeling an innovative and creative spirit and serving as an inspiration for others to make a difference in the lives of many.
