Martin Luther King/Community Service Day (No Classes)

On Monday, Jan. 21, Spring Arbor University will host “Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Service Day Project,” a countywide community service project organized by SAU’s Office of Intercultural Relations. The Legacy Service Day Project will be the largest organized single day community service project in Jackson County, with the intent of assembling over 500 volunteers.

The event begins at 10 a.m. (doors open at 9:30 a.m.) and will be held in downtown Jackson’s historic Michigan Theatre. Volunteers will be provided free donuts, coffee, and sponsorship t-shirts. The event will start with a community rally in Jackson’s historic Michigan Theatre, 124 N Mechanic Street. The event will include the involvement of local nonprofits, businesses and service clubs. There are over 100 organizations committed to the service day project, including SAU, Eaton Corporation, Michigan Theatre, Jackson Symphony Orchestra, da Vinci Schools, the City of Jackson, Habitat for Human, Disability Connection, the County of Jackson and so many more.
