Spring Arbor University plans inauguration of President Brent Ellis

web_Brent-1[1]Spring Arbor University will inaugurate Dr. Brent Ellis as its 30th president on Friday, Oct. 4, at 10:00 a.m. in the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church. The public is invited to the daylong celebration of this new presidential era, which coincides with Homecoming and Family Weekend, Oct. 4-6.

On July 1, 2013, the Spring Arbor University board of trustees unanimously voted to appoint Ellis, who has devoted his entire professional career to higher education. Ellis began his term on Aug. 16.

During the inauguration celebration, Ellis will share his vision for students and lifelong learners to pursue wisdom in their studies and in their faith as they live out their purpose as ambassadors for Christ.

Prior to his appointment as president, Ellis served Spring Arbor University as special assistant to the president and then, as vice president for university advancement, overseeing all aspects of university development, communications, alumni, external relations, the SAU Foundation and SAU radio. He also served on the university executive team.

He holds a doctorate in higher education administration from Indiana University, a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary, a master’s degree in ministry from Bethel College and a bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministry from Greenville College.

  • 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Pursuing Wisdom through the Liberal Arts – Academic Discussion in White Auditorium
