Ruth Weiman (HS ’36, JC ’38) recently celebrated her 100th birthday! Friday, Feb. 22, she entered her second century of life. The following day, her family threw a large celebration, with many guests from her community and church in attendance.
Ruth reflects on her time at Spring Arbor, recalling when “Brother and Sister Muffitt,” a retired minister and his wife, helped women at Spring Arbor Junior College attend Michigan Normal School (now Eastern Michigan University). Because of this opportunity, Ruth was able to get an education degree and taught for 30 years, beginning in one-room schoolhouses. Her daughter, Marilyn Goodrich ’97, says even after she was retired, her mother was still doing pushups and walking over a mile every day, even into her 90’s! Ruth loves reading scripture and spending time with family and friends.
