If you have a strong interest in mathematics, problem solving, and business, this is the program for you. Actuarial science is an interdisciplinary major that prepares you to serve Christ in the world by becoming an actuary. Actuaries manage local, state, and federal budgets, pension plans, and insurance funds (auto, home, health, and life).
This 70 credit hour major will push you to your academic best by combining course work in mathematics, computer science, business, accounting, economics and finance.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “relatively high pay and comfortable working conditions make being an actuary a desirable career. Students who have passed at least two actuarial exams and have had an internship while in college should have the best job prospects for entry-level positions.”
While pursuing this major, SAU will give you the necessary resources to be on the top of a future employer’s list. This includes internship opportunities and preparation for the first preliminary exam (Exam P) in accordance with beanactuary.org.
