Call 911 when necessary. Spring Arbor University is fortunate to be located across the street from the Spring Arbor Fire Department. In addition, we have employees on campus who are Spring Arbor Fire Department “First-Responders” who can be on the scene in minutes.

After-Hours Care

Need immediate assistance, but HHWS is closed? Try Med-Express or the Henry Ford Allegiance Health Emergency Room. We ask that students notify us if there are any after-hours visits to local hospitals or health facilities. This allows the HHWS staff to provide follow-up care.

Confidentiality

All patient information, including all visit information, is kept 100% confidential . No SAU staff or faculty, or patient friend or family member, is allowed access to health records or information regarding treatment at HHWS without explicit written authorization. The only exception is when there is known and plausible cause of a patient’s endangerment to him/herself or others.

Our Notice of Privacy Practices is available at the HHWS front desk for anyone to review.

Health Forms

Pharmacy

HHWS offers a limited supply of prescription medications at a significantly reduced cost to students. HHWS has contracted with a pharmaceutical company that provides these medications. The nurse practitioner and physician write prescriptions for medications as necessary.

Weatherwax Pharmacy is located 0.5 miles from campus.

Labs, Imaging & Referrals

HHWS is a lab-draw station. The staff draws labs as ordered by the nurse practitioner, medical director or the student’s primary care provider. HHWS will fax results to the ordering physician. HHWS has a courier service to pick up labs.

Henry Ford Allegiance Health Diagnostic Center – Cascade Ridge is a satellite diagnostic center for imaging and labs. It is five miles away from campus, on Spring Arbor Road, open from Monday – Friday 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Students may take their radiology (x-ray) and lab requisitions (for labs we don’t draw) from HHWS to this facility as needed.

HHWS refers students to qualified specialists in Jackson, Chelsea and Ann Arbor, as well as in their home communities. HHWS refers to SAU’s on-campus Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Services.

Travel Health Services

HHWS works with the Cross Cultural Studies Program to provide travel information, medications and immunizations.
