Spring Arbor University will partner with Garcia Laboratory in Jackson, Michigan, to offer COVID-19 testing to SAU students and employees as they begin to return to our Spring Arbor campus.

SAU will offer the FDA-approved Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Immunoglobulin (IgG) Antibody tests. The PCR test boasts 99 percent accuracy in determining whether the virus is currently present in the body. This test involves a swab of the nostril rather than the more invasive nasopharyngeal procedure.

SAU is committed to the health and safety of our employees and has developed a phased approach to bring employees back on campus for in-person operations throughout the rest of the summer.

SAU is requesting that employees at the Spring Arbor campus be tested prior to their return to work, using Garcia testing kits. The kits will be sent to Garcia labs the same day that tests are completed, and the university will receive results within 24 hours. SAU will then communicate test results with employees. SAU employees will be asked to complete a daily health screening prior to reporting for work.

SAU will provide testing for current and incoming students immediately before the start of the fall semester. SAU students will resume face-to-face instruction for the fall semester, which is scheduled to commence in late August.

SAU will also offer group testing dates throughout the summer to meet the needs of athletic teams and other large groups returning to campus.

HR will provide return-to-work protocol for employees, as well as additional information regarding testing for students and employees. If you have immediate questions, please contact SpringArborHR@arbor.edu.
