5 Reasons to Find a Campus Job

Are you a student looking to make the most of your college experience? One excellent way to do that is by finding a campus job. Working on campus can provide you with numerous benefits that go beyond just earning a paycheck. In this blog post, I want to give you some compelling reasons as to why you should consider finding a campus job at Spring Arbor University.

Financial Support:

College can be expensive, and while financial aid and scholarships can help, finding a campus job can provide you with an additional source of income. It can help cover your textbooks, tuition fees, or even just out some spending money in your pocket.

Gain Real-World Experience:

Working on campus gives you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience that will benefit you in your future career. Many campus jobs are designed to be educational and provide hands-on training. Whether you work in a library, a lab, or a campus office, you’ll develop skills that can be added to your resume and discussed in future job interviews. I currently work in the SAU Marketing & Communications office. As a Video/Film major with an endorsement in Advertising, working in the office has allowed me to gain experience in the career path I want to pursue. I have been able to work with our campus videographer on a handful of projects that have truly helped me learn, develop my skills and gain experience in a relevant field.

Time Management Skills:

Balancing academics and work can be challenging, but it’s a valuable skill to develop. Holding down a job while pursuing your studies can teach you time management, organization, and prioritization – skills that will serve you well throughout your life.

Build Your Network:

Working on campus allows you to build relationships with professors, staff members and students you might not have met otherwise. These connections can provide valuable insights, recommendations, and even mentorship. Networking can be a crucial aspect of your career development, and campus jobs offer a unique opportunity to expand your professional circle. Not only do you build relationships, but you also can develop friendships with co-workers. Some of my closest friends are people that I met through my jobs here on campus. A previous campus job I had was at Sacred Grounds and while working there, I met many other students, staff and faculty that I otherwise would never have met. It was a great way for me to go out of my comfort zone and meet new people on campus.

Convenient Location:

Campus jobs are conveniently located right where you live and study. This means you won’t have to commute long distances, saving you time and money. You can quickly switch between your classes and your job without the added stress of transportation, making it easier to maintain a work-life balance.
