Blind pole vaulter plans to attend SAU

Brad and Bradley Rainwater

Despite being blind from birth due to a condition called Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, Bradley Rainwater follows in the footsteps of his grandfather and father by competing as a pole vaulter for his high school track team. His grandfather, Brad Rainwater, serves as the track coach at Davison High School, near Flint, where Bradley attends. Together, grandfather and grandson have worked to eliminate the barriers Bradley has faced in his pole-vaulting journey. With ingenuity and determination, the pair hope to “launch” Bradley’s athletic career to the collegiate level. We are excited to welcome Bradley to Spring Arbor University as a freshman this fall!
