Bio

Deb Thompson came back to her alma mater in the fall of 1985 as the women’s volleyball coach. She continued coaching volleyball from 1985-1990 and taught a few courses in the Health, Human Performance, and Recreation department. Ms. Thompson became the softball coach in 1987 and continues to coach the Cougars. During her time as the softball coach, Ms. Thompson’s program has won over 500 games and one NCCAA National Championship. She also serves on NAIA and NCCAA softball committees.

Ms. Thompson received her master’s degree in Exercise Science at Western Michigan University in 1989 and was given faculty rank in 1994. She has taught a range of different classes in Health, Human Performance, and Recreation and CORE 100. She has also led students in Cross Cultural trips to American Samoa, Guatemala and Belize. During her time at SAU, she worked in the Registrar’s office (1988-1993) as a transcript evaluator and in the Athletic Training Department (1989-2004).

Ms. Thompson resides in Spring Arbor and enjoys spending time with her family. She also likes to camp, bike, fish, watch the Detroit Tigers, and work with kids.
