SAU announces Dawn Schnitkey as Vice President for Finance and Administration

Spring Arbor University announces Dawn Schnitkey as the new Vice President for Finance and Administration, starting on June 1. Schnitkey succeeds Kevin Rose, who is retiring after nearly six years of service to SAU.

Schnitkey has served in the business office at SAU for 16 years in a variety of roles, including Student Billing Specialist, Assistant Controller, Assistant Vice President of Finance and Administration and, most recently, Assistant Vice President of Financial Services. In her new role, Schnitkey will provide leadership as a member of the President’s Cabinet and as a representative for SAU’s board of trustees and finance committee.

An alumna of SAU, Schnitkey received both her bachelor’s degree in accounting (2004) and her MBA (2006) from SAU. She began working in the business office as a student employee in her first year of college.

“We are extremely blessed to have Dawn ready to step into this role upon Kevin’s retirement,” says SAU President Dr. Brent Ellis. “Dawn has intricate knowledge of our financial systems and strategic planning, familiarity with our board and passion for the mission and future of Spring Arbor University. Her appointment provides wonderful continuity in our operations.”

Along with her husband, Lance (SAU Class of 2003), and two children, Schnitkey is an active member of the Jackson community. She currently serves as treasurer of the board at Jackson Christian School and is involved in ministries at both Jackson Christian School and Grace Church. Schnitkey also previously served as treasurer of the board of the Cascades Humane Society, located in Jackson, Michigan.

“I am excited to step into this role and provide fiscal guidance for Spring Arbor University,” says Schnitkey. “The university has afforded me great opportunities to grow and give back, and I look forward to working even more closely with university leadership to accomplish our goals and fulfill our mission.”
