Spring Commencement: Celebrating Achievements and New Beginnings

Graduating students throwing their grad caps in the air.

As we get closer to the end of the academic year, we are excited to honor our graduating students at our upcoming Spring Commencement on May 11. With our undergraduate students preparing to be sent out into the world and our graduate students equipped to continue serving in their respective fields, commencement marks how significant of a milestone this is for our students, their families, and the entire SAU community.

Here are some friendly reminders that detail when and where the ceremonies are and where to park.

1. When and where is Spring Commencement?

Commencement will be held on May 11 at the McDonald Athletic Center in the Arena. The first ceremony will honor our traditional undergraduate students at 10 AM, followed by honoring our online undergraduate and graduate students at 1 PM. These distinct ceremonies cater to the diverse academic paths of SAU’s graduating students, ensuring that each group receives the recognition they deserve for their hard work and dedication.

2. Accessibility and Parking

To accommodate guests and ensure a seamless experience, we have made parking arrangements for guests who are coming for commencement. Guests attending the ceremonies can park at McDonald Athletic Center, The Arbor Church, and the Student Parking Lot on M-60. There will be accessible (ADA) parking reserved for those who need it on the west side of the McDonald Athletic Center, with shuttles running 45 minutes prior to and after the ceremony. There will be a dropoff location on 2nd Street by the MAC.

Here is a campus map in case you need to know where the various parking locations are.

Spring Commencement is more than just a ceremony for our students—it’s a celebration of their academic excellence, personal growth, spiritual walk, and purposeful futures that God has set out for each one of them. As our traditional undergraduate students are reminded at our Baccalaureate service the night before graduation, this marks a new beginning toward fulfilling what God has called each one of them to and using their experiences at SAU to be critical participants in the world.

We hope you join us as we congratulate all our students for their accomplishments, we look forward to celebrating with you all!
